More than 400 Sunni Muslims have been reminded to live the teachings of Prophet Muhammad in treating everyone equally.

Indian High Commissioner director Santosh Mishra told the followers that such principles of human equality got rid of racism, nationalism, and ethnocentrism.

“Among these principes, equality and justice were given supreme importance and this is evident in the life and practice of the prophet,” Mr Mishra said.

“We need more than ever before to study and follow the exemplary pattern that the prophet has set for us and the time has come to apply the ideas of Islam and demonstrate it in practice.”

Vanua Levu Muslim League president Bashir Khan said it was important for people to uphold the teachings of Prophet Muhammed who saw all men equal.
