A total of 85 golfers participated in the first BSP Life Summer Cup competition, held at the Fiji Golf Course in Vatuwaqa on Saturday.
Among the participants was BSP Life’s managing director Michael Nacola showing the company’s continued support for golfing development in Fiji.
The tournament has been sponsored by BSP Life for over a decade as part of their ongoing wellness program.
Fiji Golf sponsorship chairman Mohammed Buksh said the Summer Cup tournament consists of four rounds played over four weeks, with individual stroke play format.
“Of the 85 players, there were four youths, four ladies, and the remaining participants were club members,” said Buksh.
Despite initial concerns about the weather, the event went ahead thanks to the fine, sunny conditions on the day.
“As the year’s first golf competition, the Summer Cup sets the stage for a full calendar of events with an upcoming annual general meeting and the start of the 2025 season.
“The interest in golf among young participants is amazing, highlighting the sport’s appeal and growth potential in Fiji.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to BSP Life for their sponsorship and all the golfers who took part in the Summer Cup opening.
With a successful start to the competition, the stage is set for an exciting season of golf ahead.
