The glitz and glamour of Style Fiji’s annual charity fashion show was on full display at the Sofitel Resort and Spa last Saturday, with invited guests treated to a night of entertainment, fashion and culinary delights.
While the black-tie event proved to be another successful show for fashion’s elite, it did not take away the main focus of the night, which was to raise money for this year’s sponsored charity — the Fiji Cancer Society (FCS).
Society board member Margaret Rounds said Style Fiji’s support for their work was a blessing.
Ms Rounds said while the event provided a significant contribution to their work, it was an important platform to continue spreading their message.
“Diabetes and cancer are the leading NCDs in Fiji,” said Ms Rounds.
“We are on a race for who can cross the finish line first. That means we need to keep an eye on what we are eating.
“We talk a lot, but we need to walk the walk as well. We need to keep an eye on our alcohol intake. We need to stop smoking.”
She said these would ensure people lived healthier lifestyles.
