A strong wind alert remains in force for several parts of Fiji, with southeasterly winds of up to 45 kilometres per hour forecast to develop later today.
The Fiji Meteorological Service says the alert covers the Yasawa Group, Southern Bua, Udu Point, coastal areas of Ra including Rakiraki, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, as well as Kadavu and nearby islands.
The strong winds are being driven by a high-pressure system south of the Fiji Group, generating fresh to strong southeast winds across the country.
Forecasters say affected areas can expect sustained wind speeds of up to 45km/h, while the rest of Fiji will experience moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, with occasional gusts.
The weather office is also warning of rough to very rough seas, urging caution for small craft operators and those planning to travel by sea.
Cloudy periods with showers are expected over Serua-Namosi, the Navua-Suva-Nausori corridor, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu.
