The Construction Energy & Timber Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF) states it is ready to issue a 14-day strike notice to Aspen Medical.
Union Secretary General, John Paul said they have 200 members at the Lautoka and Ba Aspen Hospitals’.
They are employed as chefs, cooks, ward assistants, pharmacists, laundry staff, maintenance staff, ground staff, drivers including ambulance drivers, security guards, cleaners, admin staff, operating theatre technicians, X -ray and blood testing technicians.
“They have voted to go on strike and are ready for it,” said Mr Paul.
“As a responsible Union, fully aware of its responsibilities towards the people of Fiji – we did not take any action so far because of the public who access services at the two hospitals, but they should be ready now for a strike by member’s.”
“Member’s have had enough of this waiting game.”
The union wants the government to intervene now in order to avert a strike.
CETWUF states its log of claims for members’ salary increase based on its claim for cost-of-living adjustments haven’t been applied since 2017.
