NILESH Chand went home on Saturday night in a Diwali celebration mood.
Chand, who won the under 70kilogram category during Bodybuilding and Fitness Fiji Bodybuilding Championship at the Holiday Inn over the weekend had a pack of Diwali sweets waiting at home.
“I can’t wait to get home and eat my Diwali sweets,” an elated Chand said after winning his gold medal on Saturday night.
“I have sacrificed a lot at training especially during the Diwali, I did not eat any sweets but I was just packing them in my fridge. I’m going to go home now and eat them all.”
The 37-year-old said a strict diet was part of his preparation. He has set his sight on representing Fiji at the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.
“I can’t wait to enjoy the food now for a short time before I start training again. I’m going to enjoy all vacation with my family who have sacrificed a lot for me.”
Chand’s winning pose was witnessed by his three children and wife.
“My kids expect me to win gold because I won this category last year. I’m lost for words to describe how I’m feeling after this win.”
