FIJI’S real estate industry must stop relying on the “traditional methods of real estate” and explore other technical platforms that would maximise their exposure.

This was the suggestion made by RE/MAX Tropics broker, owner and licensed sales consultant Paula Benn during the 5th National Real Estate Conference at the Pearl Resort in Deuba last week.

Speaking on the topic of property investment and real estate opportunities in Fiji, she said agents tended only to focus on using social media accounts instead of creating websites.

“I think it’s very, very integral that we all must now grow ourselves and stop depending on the traditional methods of real estates and we must go out by ourselves and learn the technical platforms to utilise and maximise our exposure or the properties and ourselves,” Ms Benn said.

“We need to create our own websites. I know a lot of us here don’t have websites, we only focus on social media but we do need to increase our websites for the exposure of all the properties we have as well.”

Ms Benn said everything was integral to how a real estate agent performs, in terms of getting the information out into the world.

She said the lack of education regarding technology in real estate meant that “we have to go out on our own” way and learn.
