Two government ministers are under investigation. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed this yesterday during an interview but said he could not divulge details of the investigation.
Asked whether it could be related to alleged abuse of office, Mr Rabuka said “probably”.
“No one is above the law. “I don’t know right now what the issue is, probably abuse of office.”
On the permanent secretaries being investigated for allegedly signing a Power Purchasing Agreement between their ministries and US wind turbine company Infinite Power Clean Energy Fiji (IPC), Mr Rabuka said he had yet to receive a report.
“The report will come to me and I will determine what further action to be taken,” he said.
“If it’s criminal then it will be referred to the Criminal Investigations Department but if it’s a straight forward general orders (issue) on activities outside allowable (limits), then it will be dealt with by Cabinet.”
