THE Government will deploy officers to assess reports of communities experiencing water shortages, says Rural and Maritime Development Minister Mosese Bulitavu.
Mr Bulitavu said both short-term and long-term measures would be considered depending on the findings of the assessment team.
“We need to think of the future while addressing the issues.”
He also urged members of the public to use proper government channels when raising complaints or seeking assistance.
“The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Risk Management serves as a coordinating body for such issues.”
He said concerns should first be directed to divisional commissioners or planning offices, who can then escalate matters to the appropriate authorities.
“Bypassing proper channels often leads to delays and confusion in addressing community needs.
He said improved coordination between district officers, provincial offices, and ministries is essential for effective service delivery.
“During community visits, issues such as water shortages frequently arise and require structured responses.”
The minister said he is committed to resolving long-standing infrastructure challenges affecting rural communities.
In some cases, he said, mediation has been necessary to resolve disputes and prevent disruption of services.
