Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has urged his team to start strong when they host the Waratahs this Saturday, following a series of slow starts that have cost them crucial games this season.
“Pretty much most games, we haven’t started well.
“We need to make sure we’re in the game from the beginning. That’s a major focus for us.”
Jackson acknowledged the emotional toll of recent losses but insists the belief within the camp remains strong.
“The boys are doing well mentally. It’s never easy losing, but they’ve got ammunition from that last Waratahs game, we all feel we should’ve won in Sydney,” he said.
The coach heaped praise on his assistant coaches and the players’ game awareness, stating that when they execute the plan, the Drua look “extremely dangerous.”
Despite the challenges, Jackson remains optimistic.
“It’s a balancing act. Many of these boys are in their first or second year of Super Rugby, and their bodies are feeling it. But I’m always confident in our squad. There’s quality here.”
With just a few rounds remaining, Drua must deliver at home to stay in contention and earn redemption in front of their fans.
The match kicks off at 2.05pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
