Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park is expected to be packed to the rafters today when the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Vodafone Trophy finals take centre stage.

This year’s competition has been classed as the most competitive by FNRL acting chief executive officer Don Natabe.

“Undoubtedly, we can say that this year the competition was really good. We have had new teams, great games and of course some of the best rugby league played at secondary school level,” Natabe said.

He said that teams taking part in the finals would have an opportunity to join clubs in the future.

“There will be scouts from the top eight Premiership teams in the country at the finals and they will have an eye out for the elite players.

“So they have a chance of making their way into the top clubs if they play well.”

In the finals today, Ba Pro Dragons will take on Ratu Kadavulevu Eels in the Under-15 grade.

Lomaivuna Raiders face Namosi Titans in the women’s final while the newcomers of this year’s competition Matahma Gandhi Memorial Dragons will face Ba Pro Dragons in the U17 final.

In the main U19 final, it will be a showdown between schools based in neighbouring provinces when RKS Eels take on Naitasiri Warriors.

Entry for adults and children without uniform will be $15 while children under-12 and those with uniform will pay $10.

The first game of the finals begins at 9am.
