FIJI-BORN Australian Wallabies winger Henry Speight paid a surprise visit to the children of the Lovu HART Kindergarten in Lautoka on Tuesday with bags filled with stationary and rugby balls as part of his donation to the school.
The Brumbies Super Rugby player brought smiles to the faces of 30 young children who attend the school with story books, crayons and rugby balls that will make them keen to stay in school despite coming to the end of the second term.
Speight reminded the children on the importance of education to their lives and obedience to their families.
“Remember to study hard and work hard in school, because if you pass with good marks, you will make your families proud,” Speight said.
“Think of your mum, dad and your grandparents and how will you make them proud if you work hard in school, get a good job and treat them with what they deserve. Kindergarten teacher Merewalesi Lewevitukawalu says Speight motivated the children and also the parents with his gift and speech. “I would like to say a big vinaka vakalevu to Speight, for his words of encouragement to the children, especially with his kind gift thinking of the children of Lovu,” Lewevitukawalu said.
“We didn’t expect this to happen but I’m glad he did this for the children since most of these kids are raised by single parents and his message, I believe will motivate the young kids.
The Lovu HART Kindergarten consists of 30 students from the age of 3-5 years old, located just outside Lautoka City towards Rakiraki.
The HART shelters majority of the low income earners and the gift given by Henry Speight were acknowledged by all tenants and parents for thinking of their young ones.
