CASTAWAY Island Fiji has always been famous for its food and guests to the Mamanuca Group-based resort would always be blown away by the different delicacies offered daily. The resort is considered one of the oldest on Malolo waters.
The different selection and varieties of food menus from breakfast, lunch served right through to dinner will amaze any guest as executive chef Markus Nufer explained they would always strive to ensure guests are given the best treat when it comes to food.
Markus, originally from Switzerland but a holder of the Fijian passport, has been in this trade for many years and he knows all too well the best way to treat customers at Castaway.
He has been the executive chef at Castaway Island for about three years now, manning the fort after taking over from renowned chef Lance Seeto.
Having worked in Hong Kong, Hawaii and other parts of the world, Markus put together this experience to ensure the best food is served to any guest at Castaway.
“The secret about food here at Castaway is that we try to use as much local ingredients as we can despite some of the things we might have to import,” Markus said.
“We have European or Asian influence and we add a little bit of local touch on the menu.
“Castaway was always famous for food and the previous chef, Lance Seeto, did an excellent job when he was here and I will carry on that legacy.”
The sound of the ocean, the sensual touch of the ocean breeze, the colourful sights of this beautiful tropical island add to the mouth-watering aromas and tastes of the renowned Castaway creative island cuisine. You will be spoilt for choice with delicious alternatives.
Whatever your culinary desires, you will find them on the range of Castaway menus. Emphasis is on the very best of fresh seasonal produce from both local Fijian growers and international suppliers, brought to your table bursting with flavour and flair. Your culinary journey awaits!

Markus said Castaway was the first resort that reached 50 years of operation in Mamanuca and since it had a very high reputation overseas, people keep visiting the island because they wanted to see the true Fijian style and if the food was not good, their holidays would not be good.
“So it is always our goal to make the best food for our guests,” he said.
