EXPERIENCE will play a key part for the East rugby league team when the side faces the might of West in the East versus West series today.
The side is coached by Kinoya Sea Eagles mentor Isimeli Soqe.
Soqe said the players had what it took to win a match against a team such as the West side.
“We will give West a very good game on Saturday,” Soqe said yesterday.
“We have been working on our basics and what areas we are lacking in before but we know now on how to get off the tackle.”
The side has players from Nadera Panthers, Makoi Bulldogs, Nabua Broncos, Burenitu Cowboys and Kinoya Sea Eagles.
Soqe said he believed he had a good set of players.
“We have experienced players such as Eliki Ledua, Ilisavani Jegesa and Malakai Tuiloa in the squad who have good knowledge about the sport and will lead the side,” he said.
Australian Steve Belsham, who is part of the National Rugby League in Australia is helping the side too.
“We are very happy and lucky with Steven coming in and helping us during training.
“He has been with us from last Monday and helping the boys.” Soqe said.
He said the expertise from Belsham would benefit the players in their future.
The match kicks off at 3pm at Ba Provincial grounds.
