IT was an evening of cultural bliss, as members of the Solomon Islands panpipe band, Narasirato, put on a show to remember on Thursday at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, USP.
But what made the lively performance even sweeter was the fact that every person who showed up contributed $20 (the money paid for their ticket) towards victims of flash floods in Honiara earlier this year.
And the crowd could not get enough of the 10-man band, who made music, danced and, of course, wore traditional markings over their bodies. “Narasirato is a cultural panpipe group from the Solomon Islands and they specifically come from the traditional group of the Are Are people on the island of Malaita in Solomon Islands,” explained representative from the Solomon Islands High Commission, Trevor Unusu.
