The Leader of the Social Democratic Liberal Party and Minister for Education has expressed profound sadness and condemnation on the act of sacrilege at the Samabula Shiv Mandir in Suva on Friday.
Aseri Radrodro said he denounced such criminal activity and urge the relevant authorities to deal with it promptly.
“This act of sacrilege is not only a breach of law but an attack on the constitutional and universal rights of individuals to practice their religion freely and coexist peacefully,” he said.
“In a world already so divided, we cannot afford insane acts like this to threaten our peace in Fiji.”
Mr Radrodro added Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, and other religions all emphasise love, tolerance, and unity as universal principles that foster respect and peaceful coexistence.
“We are at a crossroads, and we can either grow from here or lose ourselves entirely.”
“To our brothers and sisters affected by this thoughtless act at your temple in Samabula, I send you love and prayers for peace and unity as we mourn with you over the damages caused and the breach of your faith and security. We hope you can regain trust over time.”
