Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader Aseri Radrodro has directed his Secretary General, Viliame Takayawa to remove a social media post.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka had expressed his concern about the post and has threatened to review SODELPA’s partnership in the Coalition government.

“I have formally directed the General Secretary to remove the aforementioned social media post which he has explained that he did in his personal capacity . This directive has been carried out,” said Mr Radrodro.

“The matter will be addressed thoroughly at our next scheduled meeting of the Party’s Working Committee, where it will be reviewed within the bounds of our Constitution and internal governance protocols.”

“I reiterate that SODELPA remains committed to the values of collective responsibility, decorum in public discourse, and the continued stability of the coalition for the good of the nation.”

“While we reserve the right to voice concerns in the national interest as individuals, as Patty Leader I have reminded Mr Takayawa that for public office holders, we must always be reminded on our responsibility to ensure we are sensitive and wise in our dissemination of any discussion.”

Mr Radrodro added it is his solemn belief that this impasse will “teach us all valuable lesson  moving forward.”

“With respect to Sodelpa s role in the Coalition: we remain humbled  that we were able to use our numbers to bring about the change our  people wanted which has restored true democracy and freedom to our multicultural and multiracial nation.”
