The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has signalled strong backing for its leader, Aseri Radrodro, as a future Prime Minister, following a well-attended Management Board Meeting and Special General Meeting held at Kalabu Village Community Hall on Saturday.
In a statement, the party described the gathering as a “smooth assembly,” with more than 180 financial members in attendance, marking what it called “the beginning of it all” as members deliberated on key party matters.
Central to the meeting was the presentation and adoption of the party’s Financial Annual Year 2025 Audit Report, which members scrutinised before endorsing it for submission to the Registrar of Political Parties next week.
The meeting was attended by senior party figures, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka, Party Leader and Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro, and Minister for iTaukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu.
Following the adoption of the financial report, members convened a Special General Meeting, reaffirming party unity and direction ahead of future political developments.
In its statement, SODELPA expressed confidence in its leadership, declaring Radrodro as “our Prime Minister of Fiji’s future, come what may.”
The party also reflected on its 25-year history, highlighting its role in representing indigenous iTaukei, Indo-Fijians, Rotumans, and other communities.
“SODELPA has been looking after Fiji, its indigenous peoples for 25 years… this is their political party, this is your political party,” the statement said.
The party emphasised its commitment to unity and governance, adding: “We keep building together. With integrity, we shall lead, with unity we shall govern. We will right all those past and these current wrongs.”
SODELPA said the strong turnout at the meeting underscored continued grassroots support as it looks ahead to future political challenges.
