SOCIETY has to change its attitude and thinking around single women getting pregnant, says Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre coordinator Shamima Ali.
She made these remarks in response to the discovery of a newborn baby in a restroom at a tertiary institution hostel in Lautoka.
“We all should stop taking the moral high ground by stop judging and condemning them and offer compassion, kindness and support and avoid such tragedies,” Ms Ali said.
She called on women to seek assistance to avoid such incidences.
“I urge women who find themselves in this situation to seek help.
“Call the National Toll free Helpline 1560. The FWCC runs this line for Government. Support and/or referrals are available.”
