IT is another district’s turn, winning a local soccer tournament, a victory march parade in the centre of town followed by the distribution of goodies from their diehard fans. And the cycle goes over again.
This has been the trend over the past 30 years and I bet with my bottom dollar, it will continue into the next 30 years.
I believe only three local players (Ivor Evans, Esala Masi and Roy Krishna) have made it out of Fiji and played semi professional football overseas in the past 30 years.
It will be very hard to imagine how many more players can follow their track with the kind of structure and system in place.
It begs the question, are we doing justice to aspiring football players?
