Snooker tournament heats up in Suva

More than 40 players will take part in the upcoming fourth edition of the Southern Division Billiards and Snooker Association’s open ranking tournament.

Sponsored by Civil Construction Pte Limited, the tournament will bring in players from across the country to compete.

Stiff competition is expected to appear in the tournament as it will see the meeting of seasoned and new competitors.

The association’s president David Ratnam acknowledged the backing of the tournament’s sponsors in supporting it this year.

Top players from around the country such as Fiji No.1 Sahil Prasad, Jiten Prasad, Pritesh Kumar, Epeli Bua and upcoming players such as Ropate Morrel, Sikeli Raikeve, Keresoni, Jasveer Singh and Navneel Singh are some of the many players participating.

Both Jasveer and Navneel are from Nausori.

This year’s tournament is centred around the theme of promoting the sport of snooker to the youths of Fiji.

Meanwhile, the current number one player for the association is Esala Talebula after three ranking tournaments organised by the association.

The tournament takes place at the Merchant Club in Butt Street, Suva.

It starts tomorrow and will end this Sunday.
