Snooker Fiji aims to expand its reach

The Southern Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji is gearing up for their 2nd National Ranking Tournament, sponsored by Goundar Dhaba, which is expected to attract 60 players for a three-day competition.

With a prize money breakdown that includes $500 for the winner, $300 for the runner-up, and various other cash prizes for semifinalists, quarterfinalists, and the player with the highest break, the tournament promises to be a thrilling and competitive event.

Francis Navitesh Ram, the Secretary of the association, emphasised the tournament’s mission to promote the growth and development of billiards and snooker sports in the region.

“The primary aim of the Southern Billiards and Snooker Tournament of Fiji is to promote the growth and development of billiards and snooker sports within the region by providing a competitive platform for players of all skill levels,” said Ram.

“The tournament seeks to foster sportsmanship, community engagement, and national pride while identifying and nurturing emerging talent to elevate Fiji’s presence in the international billiards and snooker community.”

He adds to aspiring snooker enthusiasts, the message is clear: now is the time to embrace the sport and embark on a rewarding journey of skill development and strategic gameplay.

“Starting out might seem challenging, but with dedication and practice, you’ll discover the thrill of mastering each shot, developing your technique, and improving your game.

“Remember, every great player was once a beginner. So, take that first step, believe in your potential, and embrace the sport with passion.

“We look forward to seeing you on the table, making your mark in the world of snooker.”

The tournament scheduled to take take place fromJune 20-22 at the Merchants Club / United Club in Suva.
