THE race for the 2026 Skipper Cup competition intensifies this weekend as Fiji’s top 12 provincial teams battle it off in round one of the competition.
Defending champions Malolo will be aiming to retain the crown after an impressive debut campaign last year, but they are expected to face stiff competition from a strong field eager to make an early statement.
Adding excitement to the competition are newcomers Rewa and Taveuni, who earned their Skipper Cup promotion earlier this year.
Taveuni will be making their debut while Rewa is making an appearance after an absence of three years from the competition.
Both sides will be looking to prove whether they belong among Fiji’s elite provisional teams and make a positive start to their campaigns.
With the competition kicking off for round one, every team will be looking to build momentum, knowing each result could prove crucial later in the season.
Round one kicks of this Saturday, August 1; Malolo v Taveuni at Lawaqa Park, Rewa v Naitasiri at Burebasaga grounds, Navosa v Tailevu Vatureba park, Keasi, Nadi v Kadavu at King Charles Park, Suva v Ba at HFC Bank stadium, Lautoka v Nadroga Churchill park.
