Fiji Airways Fijian 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau has announced his 13-member squad for the HSBC Perth 7s which starts this Friday.
Marking his return to the international stage is 23-year-old forward Sakiusa Siqila, who last represented Fiji in the Madrid 7s last year.
Siqila’s inclusion adds depth to the squad as he looks to make an impact in his second HSBC 7s Series outing.
Also returning is towering forward Joseva Talacolo, who has fully recovered from an injury that sidelined him in previous tournaments.
Kolinisau expressed confidence in his team’s preparation.
“We have put in a lot of work leading up to this tournament, and I’m confident in the squad we have selected,” he said.
The team will be led by captain Filipe Sauturaga, whose leadership will be crucial as Fiji navigates through a challenging pool stage against New Zealand, Kenya and Uruguay.
Kolinisau emphasised the importance of maintaining focus and discipline, qualities he believes will be pivotal to their success.
“We’ve been focusing on executing our game plan under pressure and maintaining consistency throughout all matches. The team knows what’s at stake, and we’re ready to give it our all for Fiji,” Kolinisau added.
The squad’s blend of experience and young talent promises an exciting display of rugby, with veterans like Iowane Teba and Joji Nasova complementing rising stars such as George Bose and Suliano Volivoli.
Team list: Kavekini Tabivanua, Suliano Volivoli, Joseva Talacolo, Tira Wilagi, Rubeni Kabu, Pilipo Bukayaro, Terio Veilawa, Filipe Sauturaga (C), Iowane Teba, George Bose, Joji Nasova, Vuiviwa Naduvalo and Sakiusa Siqila.
