He has served the country as a policeman, a soldier and a teacher.
Now Anirudh Singh is hoping to enter Parliament by contesting the 2022 General Election as a provisional member of the National Federation Party.
Originally from Bua on Vanua Levu, Mr Singh said he had a lot to offer NFP and the country.
The father of three said he served the Fiji Police Force for more than 13 years before joining the Republic of Fiji Military Forces in 1981.
He served in the army for 18 years and travelled for peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, Sinai, Bougainville, East Timor, Sudan and Golan Heights.
A lawyer by profession, he believes NFP is the best party for the people of Fiji.
He said after joining hands with The People’s Alliance, the people of Fiji would be in safe hands if they formed government.
Mr Singh said the coalition would help move Fiji forward.
“NFP is one of the oldest parties in the country and they have stood their ground in terms of good governance, transparency and accountability,” he said.
“The best thing about the party now is that it has extended its hand to other parties like The People’s Alliance. This will help us move ahead.
“Politics is basically the power to implement the best ideas for the nation.
“It has been there for ages and when there is rule of law — governance, democracy and social contract — politics is part of it.
“Basically it’s the idea of serving the nation, a partnership where you vote for me and I look after you.”
Mr Singh called on eligible voters to vote wisely.
“You have your choice and we are here to support you, look and see around to know what is happening around you.
“Ensure that you exercise your right to vote.”
Mr Singh presently teaches at the University of Fiji.
