The newly-appointed CEO of Fiji Sugar Corporation, Bhan Singh, and the CEO of Sugar Cane Growers Council, Vimal Dutt, have been appointed to the Board of the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji.
Welcoming the two new Directors, the Chairman of the SRIF Board, Prakash Chand emphasized the importance of all sugar industry stakeholders to work as a team for the continuous improvement of the sugar industry.
“Agriculture in general and sugarcane farming in particular is no longer business as usual,” he said.
“The farmers should be eager to adopt new technologies in sugarcane farming to increase yield and maximise profits.”
“SRIF will put a lot more emphasis on transferring new technologies to the sugarcane farmers through the Agricultural Advisory Services.”
