THOR has a dream.
Known elsewhere as Ashton Sims but Thor to many in Fiji would like to lift the Rugby League World Cup in his third campaign.
“It’s a bit funny,” Ashton said when asked how he responded to people calling him “Thor”.
“I have heard it a couple of times, it would be nice if Thor lifts the Rugby League World Cup.”
Sims started his RLWC campaign with the Fiji Bati in 2008 and also played in the 2013 event alongside brothers, Tariq and Korbin.
This year’s RLWC which starts next week will only feature Ashton and Korbin with Tariq out injured.
Ashton, however, may be still around come the 2021 RLWC.
“I have a little bit still left in me. Look at James Storer, I think my body can still take it,” Ashton said.
“I am 32 years old and I still feel all right.”
Storer is also on his third campaign at 36 years old making him the oldest member of the team.
Meanwhile, Ashton said he was very proud to be playing for Fiji.
“I have always been proud to represent my heritage. My mother and my father both respect the Fijian culture.
“I have always spent holidays with my second cousins in Western Sydney, where they are big on the Fijian culture. My Fijian heritage is sacred to me.”
Ashton has maternal links to Ba. He has called on all Fijians in Fiji and abroad to support the team as they depart for the RLWC tomorrow.
They will play their first game against USA in Townsville next Saturday.
