Former Fiji 7s extended squad member Sefanaia Bola has been snapped up the Kaiviti Silktails for the 2023 Ron Massey season.
With a background in rugby sevens, Bola’s size, aggression and speed previously caught the attention of the Silktails.
Silktails head coach Wes Naiqama spoke of his eagerness to work with Bola.
“Another great signing in Sefa. Sefa was on our radar last year and was going to sign before breaking his leg in a 7s tournament,” said Naiqama.
“Since coming back from injury, he’s spent some time playing in the local 7s circuit and recently in Malaysia.
“I have been happy with his willingness to learn and application, and he will add some size and aggression to our young pack. With his 7s background, he has really good leg speed and soft hands for a 115kg.
“I’m looking forward to helping Sefa with his transition to rugby league.”
Meanwhile, the Silktails will play eight matches at Churchill Park during the 2023 Ron Massey competition.
The side has spent the past two years based at Mascot in Sydney because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The side opens its campaign against Penrith Brothers on March 19 at Parker St Reserve, King St.
The side will host the Canterbury Bankstorm Bulldogs in Lautoka in the second round on March 25.
Other home games are against Hills Bulls on April 15, the round nine match against St Marys on May 20, against the Penrith Brothers on May 27, against the Glebe Dirty Reds on June 17, Mounties on June 24, the Ryde Eastwood Hawks on July 15 and the Wentworthville Magpies on July 22.
The Silktails final match will be against St Marys on July 30 at St Marys Leagues Stadium.
