For six long years, immigration regulations prohibited three siblings for a meet up. In that midst, the trio also lost a brother two years ago.
But the Hong Kong 7s became the reason for three siblings namely Ifereimi Dau, Latileta Qoro and Amelia Lomavere to meet for the first time in six years.
“It was quite an emotional get together when we first met,” explained Lomavere.
While Lomavere, who stays in Sydney with sister Latileta, had the opportunity to visit her brother Dau in Fiji, Latileta wasn’t that lucky enough.
According to the siblings, Latileta is under protection visa in Australia and couldn’t travel to Fiji.
“There were tears shed when we all met in Hong Kong. We lost our other brother two years back so Dau is like the only brother left,” said Lomavere.
The three were joined by other family members at the Hong Kong Stadium yesterday as they cheered the Fiji teams on.
They said they were hopeful of a win as it would give them a lifetime of memories from Hong Kong.
