The stage is set for an exciting day of schoolboy rugby league action as the 2026 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League finals kicks off at 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba today.
For the first time, Ba will host the prestigious finals with teams and supporters from around the country already arriving in the western town since Thursday afternoon for the much-anticipated showdown.
The U15 final between Gospel High School and Nasinu Secondary School will open the program at 9.30am before Ba Methodist High School meets Sigatoka Methodist College in the U17 final at 10.50am.
The main clash of the day will see traditional rivals QVS Knights and RKS Eels battle in the U19 final at 1pm.
The U19 final is expected to deliver one of the biggest clashes of the season with QVS chasing another major title after winning the boys division at last week’s Coca-Cola Games, while RKS enters the final full of confidence after defeating defending champions Ra High in the semi-final.
Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League media coordinator Lai Corerega said the organisers were excited to bring the finals to Ba for the first time and expected a huge turnout from fans.
“We are very fortunate to be playing at 4R Stadium because the platform where players compete is very important.
“We have seen the difference quality grounds can make to the performance of players and we are thankful to Ba Town Council for allowing us to host the finals here.”
He said the growth of rugby league in all zones was another positive sign for the competition.
Ba Methodist High School U17 coach David Wise said playing the final in Ba was special for the home side.
“We are glad that the final is here in Ba and we respect Sigatoka Methodist.
“We thank all our fans and supporters who have been coming and supporting us.”
Meanwhile, Gospel High School team manager Agnes Wye said their U15 side was proud to create history for the school.
“This is a milestone achievement for us.
“There is a lot of excitement, but we know this will be a tough match.”
Entry fee for the finals is $15 flat for both grandstand and ground access while children under six will enter free.
