NEPTUNE Pacific has introduced an immediate requirement for all containers carried to and from Fiji, or via transshipment, to be fitted with a seal following a new directive issued by Fiji’s border agencies.
In a customer advisory issued this month, the shipping line said the move follows a joint public notice from Fiji Ports, the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, and the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji requiring all import and export containers moving through Fiji ports to be presented with an intact seal.
In line with this requirement, Neptune Pacific now requires that all containers carried on Neptune Pacific vessels to and from Fiji, or via transshipment, must have a seal.
The requirement took effect immediately.
Neptune Pacific noted that Fiji authorities have not limited the requirement to a specific type of container seal.
The company said it is also reviewing its internal container seal security requirements as part of its ongoing commitment to cargo security and supply chain integrity.
“This includes assessing how we can better safeguard your cargo as it moves across our network,” the advisory said.
Neptune Pacific said any further policy changes resulting from the review will be communicated once they have been finalised in the coming weeks.
