One of the South Pacific’s most recognisable cruise liners, Carnival Splendor, is set to return to Fiji later this month, bringing thousands of visitors to the country.
According to a research from various websites, the vessel, a 113,300 tonne Concordia-class vessel, operated by Carnival Cruise Line, is scheduled to arrive in Lautoka on Saturday, July 25, before making a second Fiji stop at Dravuni Island the following day.
Carnival Splendor has become a familiar sight in Fijian waters, having visited the country at least a dozen times over the years as part of its South Pacific itineraries.
The ship can accommodate up to 3012 passengers and around 1150 crew members, making it one of the largest cruise vessels to regularly call into Fiji.
Homeported at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal, Carnival Splendor operates year-round cruises ranging from two days to more than 12 days, with itineraries featuring destinations across New Zealand, Tasmania and the South Pacific.
For its latest voyage, the ship departs Sydney on July 19, with scheduled stops in Noumea, New Caledonia, and Mystery Island, Vanuatu, before arriving in Fiji.
Its Fiji itinerary includes;
Lautoka – Saturday, July 25 (8am to 5pm);
Dravuni Island – Sunday, July 26 (8am to 5pm)
The cruise will conclude with the vessel’s return to Sydney on July 31.
The visit is expected to provide another boost for Fiji’s tourism sector, with thousands of passengers expected to explore local attractions, shop at markets and join shore excursions during the vessel’s stay.
