THE Government Shipping Services vessel MV Bai Ni Takali has been scheduled to service the Yasawa route this week, with a series of island calls expected following its departure from Lautoka.
The Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport confirmed the vessel began its journey from Suva on April 12, arriving in Lautoka the following day to prepare for the franchise run.
Loading operations in Lautoka were conducted between 9am and 4.30pm on April 13, after which the vessel departed once all cargo was secured.
The MV Bai Ni Takali is scheduled to service several communities across the Yasawa Group, including Yalobi, Viwa, Nacula, Navotua, Naisisili, Bukama and Yasawa-i-Rara.
The ministry highlights that the scheduled trip is part of its ongoing efforts to maintain reliable maritime transport services to maritime communities.
