A SHED at a car wash and tyre centre in Delai Saweni, Lautoka, was completely destroyed by fire on Monday evening.
The National Fire Authority (NFA) received a report of the fire from the National Command Centre at about 5.30pm.
According to NFA the property owner was reportedly in Sabeto, Nadi, attending a funeral.
“Attempts to contact the business owner were unsuccessful,” the statement from NFA said.
“No injuries were reported.”
NFA chief executive officer Puamau Sowane said the incident highlighted the importance of fire prevention and early detection.
He urged business and property owners to properly manage electrical systems, appliances, flammable materials and other potential fire hazards.
Mr Sowane also encouraged property owners to install smoke alarms to provide early warning and allow people to evacuate and alert emergency services.
Investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
