Women’s activist Shamima Ali has made a strong call for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to remove Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh from his Cabinet.
This push follows a series of public outbursts by Mr Singh which Ms Ali said were unbecoming of a national leader and contrary to Fiji’s cultural values.
“His recent public outbursts in the castigation of a senior civil servant must not be ignored,” Ms Ali said.
“When he is not telling off senior civil servants, Mr Singh is threatening to bulldoze the cane fields of hardworking farmers.”
When contacted for comments, Mr Singh declined to respond to Ms Ali’s statement.
