STAYING humble and working hard is the motto for the Suva Grammar School U16 team in the 2026 Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union Deans Competition.

As last year’s champion U15 team, expectations are high for them to defend the U16 title won by their older brothers last year.

As they prepare for their opening match today against Marist Champagnat School, their motto keeps the team grounded and focused on the tough challenge ahead.

Team captain Jone Dualase Raikabula said preparations have been tough during the off-season and pre-season, and their first-round bye has made the boys eager to deliver a strong performance today.

“It will be really good for us to start this season on a high note by winning our first game and putting on a good performance,” he said.

In their first match of the season, the emphasis will be on executing their own game plan rather than focusing on the opposition.

“We’re concentrating on our patterns and structures on the field so we can execute our game plan perfectly,” Raikabula affirmed.

With the level of competition intensifying each year, the team has vowed not to underestimate any opponents and to stay true to their motto.
