World Rugby Hall of Fame inductee and Fijian legend Waisale Serevi helped the Jamaica 7s team during the HSBC Vancouver Sevens tournament last weekend.

The World Rugby Sevens Series debutante Jamaica lost to Great Britain 24-5 in their first match, 0-50 to Ireland in the second game and also to Hong Kong.

Serevi, in his Facebook post, thanked the Jamaican team for trusting him to coach the side.

“Grateful to God Almighty for opening another door after 14 years to be back coaching again in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series,” he wrote.

“I can only say that it is the hand of God. Thank you Jamaica Rugby Football Union for having faith in me, the opportunity to lead and coach you this weekend. All the best guys, give all, and play like it’s the last game of your life, and looking forward to an exciting 7s weekend. Thank you all families and friends for your support and prayers. God is still awesome great and good all day, every day.”

The team will take part in the Edmonton Sevens also in Canada this weekend.
