MAKING her Coca-Cola Games debut this year, Marica Seninawanawa of Labasa College cherished the opportunity to compete at the HFC Bank Stadium for the first time and claim a silver medal in the process.

Seninawanawa’s moment of greatness came in the sub-junior girls javelin throw event at the 2026 Coca-Cola Games yesterday.

She earned the medal with a throw of 34.29m while Makelesi Tabuavou of Vunisea Secondary School won gold with a throw of 34.29m.

Adi Akanisi Caginitoba of Tailevu North College won bronze with a throw of 32.25m.

For the Bua, Vanua Levu lass, she was amazed at the opportunity to compete at the national stadium, and took in the sights and sounds of the sporting arena, something she had only seen on television screens prior to her participation at the Games.

However, a firm priority of hers were the words of advice given by her coach in positioning herself during the throws she made.

She recalled how she was told to ensure her position and steps taken were in a two-seven-ten movement to launch the javelin forth.

She thanked her family, coaches and supporters for their never-ending support as she held her silver medal tightly in the company of her fellow medal recipients.
