Semis set for mega clashes

SCHOOL rugby fever is set to grip the capital today as the Southern Zone Secondary Schools Rugby Union semi-finals and pool matches take centre stage, with teams battling for a place in the zone finals and a step closer towards the prestigious Vodafone Deans competition.

Supporters can expect a full day of competitive rugby, with established schools and rising contenders set to go head-to-head across multiple grades as they chase victory and the opportunity to keep their campaigns alive.

The Under-14 pool matches and the Raluve U16 semi-finals will be played at the Marist Brothers High School grounds, while all other fixtures will continue at the Suva Grammar grounds.

The U18 semi-finals are expected to headline proceedings, with Nasinu Secondary School (NSS) facing defending champions Marist Brothers High School (MBHS), while Suva Grammar School (SGS) takes on Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) in another mouth-watering encounter.

In the U19 grade, SGS meets RSMS, while Nasinu Secondary School (NSS) takes on Assemblies of God High School.

The U17 competition will also provide plenty of excitement, with SGS facing Naitasiri Secondary School and MBHS taking on Gospel High School (GHS).

In the younger grades, the U15 semi-finals feature GHS against MBHS and SGS against NSS. The U14 pool division will see Church College Fiji battle MBHS, while NSS meets Dudley High School (DHS).

The girls’ Raluve competition is also expected to attract significant interest. In the U18 grade, Lomary Secondary School will face Ratu Latianara College, while Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School meets NSS.

The Raluve U16 semi-finals will see SGS take on Lomaivuna High School, while NSS faces DHS.

With traditional powerhouses, emerging contenders and fierce rivalries all in action in today’s Southern Zone fixtures promise an exciting showcase of the depth and talent within Fiji’s school rugby ranks.
