Fiji Water Flying Fijians winger Selestino Ravutaumada will be ruled out of rugby for couple weeks due to injury.

This was confirmed by FIJI Water Flying Fijians Head Coach Mick Byrne.

“Selestino had surgery last Monday, and we are in contact with Drua, and it was quite a nasty injury, had a lot of previous damage in there that we’ve got repaired and so he’s on a rehab program for couple of weeks.

“He needs to stay close to the surgeon because he needs to get his surgery dressed. He’s in good spirits, but obviously it’s disappointing for him,” Byrne confirm.

Despite the absence of Ravutaumada, the camp atmosphere remains upbeat. Byrne reported high spirits within the team from Japan yesterday, noting that training in Nadi went well before traveling to their semi-final venue.

“The moon’s is very good. We’ve had a good couple of days in Nadi before we came over but there’s a lot of good spirit around, lots of laughing,” Byrne said.

Byrne was pleased to report that the rest of the squad is in good health.

“We’ve had good two good days of training in Nadi. Everybody fit, and we’ve obviously travelled in we will do a medical check this afternoon(yesterday), and we’ve got training tomorrow(today) so but at this stage everybody is in good shape,” Byrne added.

With the absence of Mesake Vocevoce and Andrea Cocagi this week Byrne expressed disappointment over the inability to replace Cocagi but remains confident in the team’s depth.

“Under tournament rules, we’re unable to replace Andrea, which is disappointing for him and unfortunately with Mesake with personal issues back home, not being able to travel. Our heart goes out to Mesake I and feel very strongly about it.

“I’m sure the boys will make sure that they are making proud of us when we go out there on Saturday in the semi -final. We have four locks in camp. We’ve got three locks ready to go.”

The absence of Vocevoce and Cocagi means the Flying Fijians will rely on their remaining squad members, particularly the experienced Nasilasila.
