RATU Sukuna Memorial High School’s Joshua Ducia is back and faster than ever.
The Year-13 deputy head boy roared through the Suva Zone 1 athletics meet in Suva on Friday, leaving no doubt about his intentions for the upcoming Fiji Finals.
Ducia blazed to victory in the blue ribbon 100m sprint with a run of 11.22s then doubled down after securing gold in the 200m and anchored RSMS’s 4x100m relay team to a resounding gold medal.
Speaking after his victories, he revealed the lingering impact of a hamstring injury that derailed his Fiji Finals aspirations last year.
“I participated last year in the zone, I won the 100m and 200m, and I helped my team win the 4x100m.
“But unfortunately, I suffered a hamstring injury which really tarnished my goals for the Fiji Finals,” he shared.
Ducia’s determination remained unshaken and he used this setback as a fuel for comeback.
“Now I know that I am back, I am faster and definitely stronger, and hope I can go all out this year,” he said.
