School excursions and extracurricular activities are back in the 2021 academic year.
This, according to the Ministry of Education in a circular sent to all schools on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Education permanent secretary, Anjeela Jokhan, told all school heads that schools were to revert to normal school activities.
School assemblies, parents teacher interview, extracurricular activities, awards events, physical education, excursions and events that were part of the normal school terms would now resume.
“Schools intending to conduct student excursions must seek approval from my office prior to the event,” Ms Jokhan said.
“School heads must ensure all necessary approvals are sought from my office for events, involving travel of students during school hours.”
School heads have also been told to ensure that gatherings should take place in an open space and all indoor events should be conducted at half capacity.
“Please continue to encourage handwashing and other hygiene practices.”
