SAVUSAVU responded strongly to their previous defeat with a 2-0 win over Cooling Down California Rakiraki at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa today.
Asaeli Heritage was the difference between the two sides, scoring both goals to guide Savusavu to an important victory in the senior category of the FMF Inter-District Championship.
Savusavu coach Rozal Hussain was pleased with the way his players responded after their earlier setback.
“The boys went back after the defeat and came back with a good result today. A really good time,” Hussain said.
The victory provided a much-needed boost for Savusavu as they look to build momentum in the tournament.
However, Hussain said the team would have to assess several players after they picked up injuries during the match.
“We’ve got a few injuries. We’ll go back and regroup,” he said.
He called on supporters to continue standing behind the team as it pushes through the remainder of the championship.
“We would like the fans and supporters back home to get back with the team again, the families and all,” Hussain said.
