Black Heron did not train to prep for the Fiji Bitter Labasa and Savusavu 7s. Instead they lifted cements to help build a hall for Makolei, Solevu in Bua and this was their only form of exercise.
They bowed out of the Fiji Bitter Labasa 7s during the quarter finals after they were defeated 5-14 by Army Green at Subrail Park last Saturday.
Team manager Isaia Kumisailei said they would come back stronger this week for the Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s. Kumisalei said they would go back the drawing board.
“We will come back physically and mentally stronger for the Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s,” he said.
“There will be stiff competition but our message to the other teams is to come prepared. We will give you a run for your money. “Also, we will work on our discipline and other key areas as this affected our game.”
He said they were also aiming to play at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.
“At the moment we are looking for sponsors to help our dream become a reality,” he said.
“Two of the men are from Suva, one fireman and the others are from the village.
“Playing in big tournaments such as this to expose players as there are a lot untapped raw talents in the village,” he said.
The Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s will be held at Ganilau Park from this Thursday.
