APIA,10 OCTOBER 2018 (PRESS SECRETARIAT) – Samoa’s national carrier is back on track with its scheduled flights after maintenance on its Boeing 737-800 aircraft in Auckland, New Zealand.
Works were completed Monday and the plane resumed its regular scheduled flight on Tuesday out of Auckland to Faleolo International Airport.
“Safety is our paramount priority and we do apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused”, said Samoa Airways’ CEO, Tupuivao Seiuli Alvin Tuala.
“We thank our passengers for their patience and understanding as we worked with them to rearrange their travel plans. We want to assure you that Samoa Airways is committed to continue to provide a safe and quality service to our passengers”, said Tupuivao.
During the maintenance, Samoa Airways assisted with alternative travel arrangements.
It chartered Nauru Airlines Boeing 737-300 and Fiji Airways Airbus A330 aircraft to operate flights between Apia and Auckland and Apia and Sydney outside of their own respective schedules.
“We are grateful to our Pacific Island partners who came to our aid during this time”, said Tupuivao.
This was the first major disruption to Samoa Airways’ jet- operation since its launch last year.
But it’s now back to business as usual for Samoa’s airline, as it prepares to welcome in its first birthday with a host of special fares to its newest destination, Brisbane, next month.
Samoa Airways is the designated national carrier of Samoa. It operates scheduled international air services using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft offering both business and economy class. The airline offers daily flights between Apia and Auckland and twice weekly flights between Apia and Sydney. Samoa Airways also operates a fleet of Twin Otter turbo-prop aircraft which fly multiple times daily between Fagalii and Pago Pago, in addition to domestic services within American Samoa.
