Saint John Primary School under-14 team, based in Wailoku, Tamavua, emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Nabua Primary School, securing a 7-0 win in the second round of the Suva Kaji Rugby competition yesterday.

The match took place at Saint Marcellin’s Primary School grounds in Suva, where the young players showcased their determination and teamwork.

Despite facing some pressure from the Nabua team, the Saints players remained resilient until the final whistle.

Head coach Petero Ratucove acknowledged the tough challenge posed by Nabua, praising the opposition’s strong defense throughout the game.

“It was a tough game for us, Nabua was a really good team they showed their defense throughout the match,” said Ratucove.

“In the second half we were nil-all, my message to the boys was to push in the defense and play as a team.”

Ratucove emphasised the importance of improving their tackling techniques and avoiding high tackles in future matches.

“The boys had a lot of miss tackle and playing with high tackles, so that’s what we need to work on in our next match.”

He commended his players for their hard work and fighting spirit, urging them to continue working together as a team.
