The Fiji Sports Council will stand by its decision of ‘No jab, No entry’ at this year’s Coca-Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva next month.

According to the FSC, spectators who wish to enter its premises which includes the stadium to watch the games, must produce their vaccination cards.

Those who are yet to be vaccinated will be refused entry into the stadium and children wanting to enter the stadium would have to be accompanied by an adult who has been fully vaccinated.

Only then would they be allowed to enter the stadium, the council said.

Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association president Filimoni Waqa said they would have to abide by whatever decision set down by FSC regarding its Laucala Bay sports complex.

“We will all have to follow whatever rulings the Fiji Sports Council takes,” said Waqa.

“The rulings will apply to everyone. Even as officials of the Coca-Cola Games, we will have to abide by these rulings.

“Our understanding is that athletes can participate if they are accompanied by fully vaccinated officials and the same goes for children wanting to come and watch the Coca-Cola Games.

“Safety is paramount at this year’s competition and we are trying to make it a safe environment, not only for the athletes, but also for spectators and officials.”

The three-day athletics competition is scheduled to start on Thursday, August 18 and end on Saturday, August 20 at the HFC Bank Stadium at Laucala Bay, Suva.
