The Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji and the Shree Sanatan Dharni Purohit Brahman Maha Sabha want compulsory registration for all bhajans, kirtan and lokgeet artists.

Sanatan Fiji acting national secretary Pundit Krishneel Tiwari said it was preparing a paper for submission to the Government.

He said the move was triggered by the increasing incidence of bhajan singers using vulgar language during performances.

“Bhajan in Vedic Sanatan Dharam context means we are glorifying God in the mood of worship to seek His blessings for the departed soul. Any bhajan that does not fulfil this purpose is an offence,” Mr Timari said.

He said all Sanatani followers must not engage such bhajanias at their homes.
