The FIJI Water Flying Fijians can expect Georgia to change their game from defence to attack when the two sides meet in a Rugby World Cup pool C match at the Stade de Bordeaux tomorrow.
Georgia head coach Levan Maisashvili says they plan to chance their arm against a strong Fiji side by taking the game to Pacific islanders.
The two teams last met in 2021 where the match ended in a 15-all draw.
“The Fiji team at the time had a few different players, but they were still really strong, and we were missing some players. But the difference with that match was we were able to block their game, to block their defence,” Maisashvili said.
“For the next match we are going to attack more because obviously if we only focus on defence, we will not be able to advance. But if we want to have the result we’re waiting for, we’ll have to be strong everywhere, in attack and defence. That is our plan, to be strong everywhere, at the front and the back.”
He said while they had a lot of respect for Fiji, they would give their best to register their first win of the 2023 RWC.
He said the first 20 minutes would be important for his side.
“There is a lot of respect between both teams, that’s one of the values of rugby.
“I know the Fijian coach well, he’s a great person, they are very professional, complete rugby players who have a lot of human qualities, and we have a lot of respect for their team.
“I think the beginning of the match will be very important, but I cannot say if it will be the most important.
“I can say that we will play the full 80 minutes and we will do everything we can to win the match.”
The match kicks off at 3.45am.
