Strictly avoid the disposal of plastic or non-degradable materials into the sea during today’s Ganga Pooja at the Nasese foreshore today, said Krishneel Krishan Tiwari, the National Secretary of the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.

With Hindu’s marking the end of Ram Naumi today, Mr Tiwari said the Suva City Council has granted approval for the traditional flower dispersal (Ganga Pooja) following the Ram Naumi Celebration this afternoon.

“Strictly avoid the disposal of plastic or non-degradable materials into the sea,” he said.

“This can be disposed in the bins provided near the seaside.”

“Ensure that only natural, biodegradable items are used during the ritual.”

Mr Tiwari added to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of this sacred tradition, there will be police patrols at designated coastal areas to assist and safeguard all devotees.

“Let us celebrate Ram Naumi with devotion, discipline, and dignity, keeping in mind our responsibility to protect nature as part of our dharmic duty.”
